Pizza Sauce

A good pizza sauce recipe is essential to any good homemade pizza. I have posted a lot of pizza recipes on this blog but never a sauce. This is a tomato based pizza sauce.  It is very easy to make and as simple as combining just a few ingredients. Parmesan cheese is one of my favorite ingredients in this sauce. It gets a little sweetness from honey and a little heat from dried red pepper flakes. This will make enough to cover 1 large pizza. Enjoy.

Baked Mac and Cheese

This recipe is very simple and only uses 1 type of cheese, which is cheddar. The process for making this is very easy. The noodles are first boiled in a pot, and while the noodles are boiling a cheese sauce is prepared in the pan. The cheese sauce is basically a combination of cheddar cheese, milk, and cream. The noodles and sauce are mixed, placed into a baking dish and topped with buttered breadcrumbs. If you are searching for an excellent mac and cheese recipe, give this one a try!

Chicken Stir-Fry

There is nothing as good as a simple and easy Chinese chicken stir fry. As you know I am a huge fan of using a deep fryer to fry my Chinese food but nothing beats the convenience of stir frying in a wok. This is a very basic stir fry recipe; it uses few ingredients and will only take a little time to prepare for dinner. You can add any vegetables you want to this stir fry such a broccoli, green pepper, onion, mushrooms or just about anything you enjoy. This recipe uses chicken thighs but you can use boneless skinless chicken breasts as well. The chicken is first marinated and then fried in the wok with the marinade. Oyster sauce is then added at the end of the cooking process. This is a great stir fry recipe for beginners or anyone that enjoys Chinese food. Enjoy.

Hash Brown Casserole

Hash brown casserole is one of the easiest and most delicious types of casserole you will find anywhere. This recipe combines frozen hash browns with sour cream, cream of chicken soup, and various other ingredients. It is perfect as a side dish, as main course, or it makes a great breakfast dish. This recipe is very simple, just combine all of the ingredients into a baking dish, place into the oven and bake. It cannot get much easier than that. If you are the type of person that requires meat in your dishes, you could add some cubed ham into the mix. Enjoy.

Breaded Chicken Tenders

When I am looking for something quick and easy to cook in the deep fryer breaded chicken tenders are always one of my best options. The chicken tenders are first marinated in buttermilk and garlic and then rolled in a breadcrumb and flour mixture. You can add additional seasonings as well such a black pepper, paprika, onion power, ect. I also made my own honey mustard sauce to dip these chicken tenders in. The result was delicious. Enjoy.

Nacho Dogs

Anyone that enjoys different types of hot dogs must give these nacho dogs a try. This is another great recipe for game day. These hot dogs are topped with nacho cheese, guacamole, salsa, chopped onions, and pickled jalapenos. The guacamole is made from scratch but you could also buy it in the store if you want to save some time. For the hot dogs, I would recommend getting all beef hot dogs. These can be grilled or boiled, your choice. Enjoy.

Baked Scallops

These baked scallops are perfect for dinner and go great with pasta. This is my first time working with scallops so I was a little nervous as to how they would turn out, but the end result was satisfying. However, I do wish I had access to fresh scallops as the frozen ones are not nearly as good. This recipe uses bay scallops which are smaller and sweeter than sea scallops. The cooking process is very simple, the scallops are topped with a breadcrumb mixture and then baked in the oven. If you are wondering about the noodles in the picture, they are simply linguini tossed with alfredo sauce and topped with Italian parsley. Enjoy.

Wonton Tacos

These are just like the Wonton Taco’s from Applebee’s appetizer menu. These tacos consist of stir fried chicken, coleslaw, red onion, green onion, and cilantro. The best part about these tacos is the chicken. The chicken is marinated and stir fried in a teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, stir fry sauce, and sesame dressing mixture. This combination goes together extremely well. The coleslaw is tossed with additional sesame dressing. The hardest part about this recipe is frying the wonton wrappers. It can be a little tricky and it is something you will want to do last. If you don’t want to mess around with the wontons the chicken goes great over rice. This makes a great appetizer. Enjoy.

Cream Cheese Wontons

Cream cheese wontons are a Chinese appetizer. They go great with any Chinese dish. Cream cheese wontons are commonly found at Chinese restaurants all over. They consist of wonton wrappers filled with cream cheese, crab, green onions, and seasonings. For the best results you will want to fry these in the deep fryer but they could be fried in a pan as well. If you want to fry in a pan, just add about an inch of oil. I like to seal the wontons with beaten egg. This keeps them from breaking open in the deep fryer. You will want to make sure they are well sealed. These are best served with sweet and sour sauce. Enjoy.

Honey Hot Wings

You pretty much cannot have a game day party without hot wings. These hot chicken wings are both sweet and spicy. The sauce is basically a sweet buffalo sauce. It combines hot sauce, butter, and honey. The wings are first seasoned with cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. The wings are then brushed with honey while grilling, tossed with the sauce mixture, and then placed back onto the grill for a couple minutes. You can adjust the amount of heat by the type of hot sauce you use and the amount of cayenne pepper you season the wings with. These honey hot wings go great served with blue cheese dressing. Enjoy.

Buffalo Chicken Tacos

Buffalo chicken tacos are an interesting combination of boneless Buffalo wings and tacos. Breaded chicken is deep fried and then tossed with hot sauce and butter. You can adjust the amount of heat by the spiciness of the hot sauce you use. I used frank’s red hot and needless to say, these were pretty hot. These tacos are topped with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and blue cheese dressing. This does require a little work breading and frying the chicken but that’s about it. This is another great game day recipe. Enjoy.

Beer Brats

Beers brats are perfect for cook outs and mainly, tailgating. These brats are first simmered in beer and butter and then grilled to perfection. Try to find some good fresh ground bratwurst if you can. These will be a lot fresher and have better flavor overall. This recipe is fairly easy, you will want to pierce the bratwurst to keep them from exploding while they simmer. This is another great recipe for football season. Enjoy.

Slow Cooker Chili

This is pretty much the easiest chili recipe you will find anywhere. This one is perfect for a busy day because the slow cooker does most of the work for you. Just brown the beef, chop a few vegetables, add all the ingredients into the slow cooker and you are finished. If you like your chili a little spicier you can add more hot sauce. I like my chili a little bit thicker so I drained the beans. If you like a soupier chili you can add the beans to the slow cooker with the juice. This recipe is simple and perfect for cold fall or winter nights. Enjoy.

Cuban Grilled Cheese

This is by no means an authentic Cuban sandwich but just a simple idea for a Cuban sandwich inspired grilled cheese. This recipe does not use sliced or pulled pork but uses sliced turkey instead. Ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles are piled onto sour dough bread and lightly grilled on both sides in the pan. For the dressing you can use either mayonnaise or mustard or both. I like to pile massive amounts of ham, turkey and Swiss onto my sandwiches, but this actual recipe calls for less. These Cuban grilled cheese sandwiches are very easy to make. Enjoy.

Buffalo Chicken Sliders

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that buffalo chicken would go great on sliders. Buffalo chicken is piled onto slider rolls and topped with blue cheese slaw. Instead of using breaded chicken this recipe uses pulled chicken mixed with buffalo sauce. You can use leftover cooked chicken or you can cook the chicken any way you like. What I did was boil the chicken breasts until fully cooked, I then gave them some time to cool and shredded them using two forks. The blue cheese slaw is nothing more than coleslaw mix tossed with blue cheese salad dressing. This is another fantastic recipe for game day. Enjoy.

Breakfast Quesadillas

Quesadillas are always a delicious idea and when you add breakfast ingredients into the mix it’s even better. These are perfect for breakfast or dinner. This recipe combines scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, cheese, green pepper and green onion. All of these ingredients are put onto a flour tortilla and then fried in the pan. You can add additional ingredients if you choose or leave out whatever you want.  These go perfect served with salsa or even country gravy would go great as well. Enjoy.

Enchilada Stuffed Shells

Enchilada stuffed shells make a quick and easy dinner. Boiled pasta shells are stuffed with cooked seasoned ground turkey and refried beans. The shells are placed into a baking dish topped with enchilada sauce and cheese and then baked in the oven. If you want you can use ground hamburger instead of turkey. After the shells have finished baking you can top them with any additional ingredients you want such a green onions, cilantro, tomato, black olives, and sour cream. This recipe can easily be double to feed several people. Enjoy.

Baked Hot Dogs

Yes, you can bake hot dogs in the oven. This is not some type of hot dog casserole but rather hot dogs with buns that are actually baked in the oven. These baked hot dogs are topped with chili, onions and cheese. The condiments include mayonnaise, mustard and relish. These three ingredients are spread onto the hot dogs buns before they are baked.  I admit I was a little skeptical of this recipe when I first saw it. I had no idea how it would turn out. In the end, it turned out to be very good. The hot dogs buns were hot too soggy or crunchy but had just the right texture. This is a super easy recipe that takes very little time to prepare. Enjoy. This recipe was adapted from In The Wabe.

Tater Tot Casserole

This tater tot casserole is perfect for busy nights when you don’t have much time to cook. This casserole consists of cooked ground beef mixed with cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese, and tater tots. The only real work that is involved in this recipe is browning the meat. You can add additional vegetables if you want such a celery, peas, or carrots. Just throw them in the fry pan with the beef and onion mixture. You can also use different types of cheeses if you want. Enjoy.

How to Cook Chinese Food (Multiple Recipes)

I consistently get a lot of questions from people wondering how to cook Chinese food. Regardless of if you are just learning how to cook or have been cooking for awhile you will probably find this article useful. The truth is, cooking Chinese food is not hard at all. In fact, many Chinese dishes are all very similar so once you learn how to cook a few different dishes, you should develop a good understanding of Chinese cooking. In this article I will explain to make a few popular Chinese dishes. These dishes include Sesame-Orange Chicken, General Tso’s Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Black Pepper Chicken, Egg Rolls, and Crab Rangoons. All of these items are fried and most can be found at Chinese restaurants across the United States.
The first thing when preparing to cook Chinese food is to make sure you have a lot of the ingredients on hand. A lot of Chinese dishes all use very similar ingredients. Some ingredients you will want to keep in your pantry are soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, oyster sauce, sugar, and rice wine. Fresh ingredients would include ginger, garlic and green onions. A couple of questions I constantly receive are, “What is the best type of oil for deep frying Chinese cuisine?” and “Are rice wine vinegar and rice wine the same?”  The answer to the first question is peanut oil.  Peanut oil will brown nicely and give the meat great flavor when used for deep frying.  Rice wine vinegar and rice wine are not the same thing. Rice wine is an actual wine, sometimes called Sake or Mirin, while rice wine vinegar is a type of vinegar that is made from fermented rice wine.

Teriyaki Chicken Wings

Teriyaki Chicken wings are the perfect sweet and tangy appetizer. These wings go great for game day and they are something almost everyone is sure to enjoy. These wings are deep fried and then mixed with a delicious teriyaki sauce.  I really enjoyed the flavor that the grapefruit juice gave to the sauce, it was very unique. The sauce combines ingredients such as soy sauce, grapefruit juice, vinegar, and hoisin sauce. It also gets a lot of its flavor from garlic and ginger. If you would prefer not to deep fry the wings they can be baked or grilled as well. You could also make boneless wings and coat them with this sauce. Enjoy.

BBQ Chicken Sliders

If you are looking for an excellent snack for game day you might want to give these BBQ chicken sliders a try. I have posted a few slider recipes lately but these have to be my favorite. The chicken is first grilled and shredded and then mixed with your favorite BBQ sauce. If you would like a delicious BBQ sauce, you can try my BBQ Sauce Recipe. The grilled chicken is placed onto slider buns and topped with mozzarella cheese slices, lettuce, and ranch dressing. If you want to save time you could use leftover cooked chicken or buy a cooked rotisserie chicken from the store and shred it.

Chinese Shrimp with Broccoli

Shrimp with Broccoli is a simple and easy Chinese stir-fry dish. There is no deep frying in this recipe and everything can be done using a wok or fry pan. I used frozen shrimp but I would recommend fresh if you are in an area where they are available to you. The best part about this recipe is the stir-fry sauce. The sauce uses ingredients such as soy sauce, chicken broth, wine, sugar, and sesame oil. The sauce will make a lot so you can use it to serve over rice. This recipe can be prepared very quickly and is perfect for dinner. Enjoy.

Philly Cheese Steak Hot Dogs

If you love Philly Cheese steak sandwiches, you are sure to enjoy these Philly Cheese Steak dogs. These hot dogs combine all of your favorite ingredients from the classic Philly Cheese Steak onto hot dogs. This means that these hot dogs are topped with cheese sauce, steak, green pepper and onion. I grilled the hot dogs but you could boil them as well. Of course, I have to recommend going with the all beef hot dogs. For the steak, I seasoned it well with garlic powder, salt and pepper and then sautéed it in the pan. This is another perfect recipe for game day. Enjoy.

Cowboy Burgers

Burgers are always a solid choice for dinner, even in the winter. They go perfect for football season and the variety of condiments you can put on them is nearly endless. These Cowboy burgers are well seasoned burger patties and can be grilled or cooked in a fry pan. Grilling is always the best but unfortunately, it’s not always an option.  I used an indoor grill pan to make these burgers. These burgers are topped with Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, French fried onions, and your favorite BBQ sauce. Enjoy.

Kung Pao Linguini

If you enjoy a spicy Chinese pasha dish, this recipe is perfect for you. Kung Pao Linguini combines kung pao chicken with noodles. This is apparently a copy cat recipe for California Pizza Kitchens Kung Pao spaghetti. We do not have a California Pizza kitchen around here so I am not aware what this dish tastes like there. I did make some modifications to the original recipe though. I rolled the chicken bits in cornstarch and then deep fried them. I also left out the dried red chili peppers. The best part about this recipe is the sauce. The sauce combines ingredients such as soy sauce, chicken broth, chili paste, red wine vinegar, and garlic. Enjoy.
